Patients who have had positive experiences with NHAI often send the company correspondence, including one letter in which a family thanked the organization for successfully securing a much-needed power lift for their son. In the letter, the NHAI member explains that the family’s request for a power lift was previously denied six times by Medicaid, despite documents submitted by doctors and home health workers supporting the family’s need for the power lift.
The parents had been lifting their son on a daily basis for years and were both diagnosed with painful herniated discs from the lifting. Although they filed documentation of their injuries, Medicaid told the family that their existing shower chair, which provides no lifting assistance, offered sufficient support. NHAI was able to overcome these obstacles and secure the power lift so the family could elevate their son without pain or outside assistance.
