NHA has helped a number of clients keep their health plan costs down and financially solvent. One of these, the Kingston Teachers’ Federation (KTF), has remained with NHA for more than 10 years due to the company’s thoroughness and dedication. KTF’s association with National Health Administrators began in 1995, when the Kingston school district proposed a 0 percent increase in salary and only a 25 percent contribution to contracted health insurance. Because the NHA’s representative provided the most in-depth information during the interview process, it was selected to administer KTF’s health plan.
National Health Administrators provides KTF with regular plan reports that identify necessary plan modifications. One such report, filed by NHA actuaries in 1999, determined that KTF’s health plan funding model was unsustainable. National Health Administrators worked with the board of education and KTF to identify a mutually agreeable proposal that addressed this issue. Similarly, in 2005, NHA was able to expand benefits while keeping KTF’s health premiums steady and rebating the district $1 million over three years.
